I'm sorry, this is my first attempt to comment on Newsvine. Does this mean that you have to approve me posting my opinions/retort to your (not very factual) description of Amsterdam? I thought this was a forum for the free expression of ideas, please correct me if I'm wrong...

Yes, please look at Amsterdam. I live in Germany and have visited Amsterdam numerous times in the last 20 years. The crime rate there is much lower than in any comperable American city. More interesting, the rate of drug consumption among the Dutch (where cannibis is tolerated), especially among teenagers, is much lower than in the U.S. (which wages an hysterical War on Drugs).

Please look up the statistics for yourself - don't just believe me. Amsterdam is hardly a wasteland - it's a beautiful city full of culture, and is extremely safe. I would much rather (and have) walk around alone in Amsterdam at 3 a.m. than, say, Chicago, L.A., or New York.

In future, please research your facts before making such outlandish accusations.
